The Arctic LNG 2 project was subject to an environmental impact assessment under Russian law from 2017 to 2019 under a separate Russian design documentation for relevant Protect facilities. The Russian design documentation, including the environmental impact assessment, was under review and approval of Russian authorities from 2018 to 2019.

An environmental, social, and health impact assessment for the entire Arctic LNG 2 project was conducted in 2020, on the basis of the adopted design documents, which included the environmental impact assessment, and in accordance with international standards. The purpose of the environmental, social, and health impact assessment is to demonstrate Project's compliance with international standards on environmental and social sustainability, environment, health, and safety.
